Boosting the adoption of cyber-physical systems in Europe Europe

Cyber-physical systems, precursors of the Internet of Things (IoT).

The Road2CPS project was created to address the challenges and take advantage of opportunities that could arise in the development of small, advanced devices, such as sensors and computing systems.

These devices were connected together, forming what became known as Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), allowing interaction between the physical and digital world.

These advances caused a paradigm shift towards Cyber-Physical Systems, precursors of the Internet of Things (IoT), creating the need to address critical challenges in the implementation of complex and flexible systems in key sectors such as transportation, health or energy, and helping to improve their efficiency and security.

Despite progress in research, there was a considerable gap between theoretical concepts, technical developments and their successful implementation, as well as large differences in the maturity of SCP between different application domains and along the value chain.

Road2CPS objectives, creating the roadmap

The Road2CPS project, which was undertaken to address these challenges, facilitated collaboration between key stakeholders and promoted the implementation of SCP in Europe.

For AnySolution, being part of the Road2CPS project represented a unique opportunity to contribute to a fundamental paradigm shift in European technology. Through our participation, we were able to bring our experience and expertise to drive the adoption of Cyber-Physical Systems and facilitate their integration in key sectors.

The main objectives included:

  • Analyze the impact of previous and ongoing projects. Road2CPS identified gaps and opportunities, contributing to multiply the impact of previous SCP efforts.
  • Develop technology, implementation and innovation roadmaps. The project created strategies to catalyze early adoption of
    CPS technologies in various sectors.
  • Improving the implementation of SCP. Exploitation opportunities were presented through case studies that demonstrated the practical and economic value of SCP.
  • Recommend areas for future research. Road2CPS developed recommendations that helped define priorities and strategies for future developments in the field of SCP.
  • Consolidating a SCP community. The project brought together key stakeholders through the creation of specialized working groups, contributing to theRoad2CPS action plan

The legacy of Road2CPS

Road2CPS provided European organizations with a clear direction to set their future visions for CPS environments, helping to maintain their competitiveness in an evolving technology market.

By preparing companies for the challenges of the future, the project contributed to strengthening European industry leadership in Cyber-Physical Systems, facilitating the transition to the Internet of Things and maximizing the impact of these technologies in key industrial applications.

Road2CPS played a crucial role in the development and adoption of SCPs, laying the groundwork for their integration into Europe's technology ecosystems.
