HERITWIN

Cultural Heritage, Digitally Twinned

Digital Twins and Artificial Intelligence Applied to the Protection, Preservation, and Management of European Cultural Heritage

HERITWIN is developing an advanced digital infrastructure based on digital twins to document, monitor, and preserve European cultural heritage sites. By combining data from IoT sensors, 3D models, LiDAR scans, and federated data architectures, the project provides predictive tools for risk prevention and decision-making support for heritage managers.

Target

  • Create Digital Twins for predictive risk assessment (structural stress, flooding, moisture).

  • Ensure semantic integration and interoperability among GIS/BIM data, IoT data, and historical records.

  • Validate solutions through national pilot projects in Europe (including Spain, Sweden, Norway, the United Kingdom, and Greece).

  • Define sustainable and innovative management models for cultural heritage institutions.

Heritage institutions already have more documentation than they can use. HERITWIN’s goal is to make that documentation usable.
